We do sincerely hope to welcome you to out beautiful villa. Mi casa, Su casa.
As a location, you would of course expect me to say it’s the best in Bali, but truly, it is a very very special place. You have a driver in Dewa, who can drive you everywhere if you wish, so you can go to the busy, manic places when you want to, but you don’t have it in your face the rest of the time.
Since were up on the hill, it does tend to be a couple of degrees cooler. That’s the difference between roasting on the beach or overheating sight seeing and coming back to serenity, a dip in the pool, and a well earned drink.
Weve left the beach restaurant and it been 34 degrees (in the evening) which was way to hot in long trousers and a shirt, to come back to 26 degrees and a breeze.
As mentioned Dewa is available to take you anywhere you wish, but as you may read, Dayu is a fantastic cook and will get all the ingredients from the market with a receipt. Also make sure you try the bbq (the best I’ve ever tasted) with Snapper, Prawns, Chicken Satay, Amazing ribs (please specify what you would like on the bbq).
Everything is there for you at the villa, however you do have the best beaches in Bali all within easy reach and some amazing restaurants and beach clubs a 10 minute drive away
I have listed a few of our favourite places below that are in the local area. If you do want anything special, or another recommendation, please ask away, were here to help and share the knowledge.
Beaches (all within 15 mins)
Nammos beach club
Beautiful cove, brilliant beach bar. Private club. Pay 250,000 per person to go down, but you can offset that against the lunch bill. Idilic.
Fins beach club
Where to start? Ok well if you go to kuta there are shops everywhere and a air conditioned shopping centre. Seminyak is gorgeous (so I’m told) for wondering around more upmarket boutiques, and then of course Ubud for streets of shops – clothes, crafts, jewellery, art. Close by in Nusa Dua Galleria there is also a lovely shopping centre of boutiques and restaurants.
If you want some little cheap gifts ask Dewa to go to ‘Geneva’ near Seminyak – it’s a 3 story huge warehouse of everything from sarongs to statues, chess boards to cushions, trays to picture frames etc etc etc….if you do go to Geneva, spend the money you have saved on lunch at ‘Warisan’ very close by
Close by you also have ‘Jimbaran Corner Shopping Centre’ which has some higher end boutiques at great prices.
Bali wins international accolade after accolade for its amazing cultural offerings. If you were only to have one taste on your trip go to Ulluwatu Temple (one of the most famous in Bali and only 15 mins away) at sunset for the kecak performance (take a guide at the gate to keep the monkeys away). The cultural park (GWK) is just down the road and is home to cultural performances and huge impressive statues. If its your first time in Bali, the trip wouldn’t be complete without a (long) trip to Ubud.
Pepe Nero (Trattoria) – Pioneer from Seminyak, good Italian, great setting, superb price. Now down the hill in Jimbaran
kats Kitchen – 5 mins away and my favourite. Used to be only takeaway delivery where you would order and they would deliver 1.5hrs later. She has now opened a restaurant. Great food, great price, always busy – casual
Swell – Comfort food around the corner – great pizza’s
Di Mare – Fine dining, cliff top, stunning location – top quality but top price
Four seasons – An array of great restaurants
Rits Carlton – there’s a plethora of 5 star hotels within ten minutes and twenty to Nusa Dua
Jimabaran – One of the best experiences is the freshly bbq seafood on the beach. Candle lit casual dining with the waves crashing, its wonderful.
Cafe Mocha – Opened a year ago, fresh bread, croissant and excellent sandwiches round the corner
Pica Tapas (Nusa Dua boutique shopping area) Excellent all you can eat BBQ with a great band playing for under US$30. Really nice outdoor environment and great live music
Cuca – High end rich lovely tapas. Save this one for the evening leaving the smaller children at the villa
Seminyak – A trip to Bali wouldn’t be complete without a trip to Seminyak, so go for sundowners at Kudeta (0361736969) and either eat the fine dining there (won top 10 restaurant in Asia), or go to my favourite in Bali Sarong (0361737809) – more Asian Fusion – out of this world. Also Metis – amazing steak looking out over pad fields.
Also a favourite is Warisan (a place we frequent from time to time for lunch) looking out over the Padi Fields. My tip from the menu is the Steak in shallot sauce (the best in Bali), or the Goats Cheese salad (for my Wife although we tend to share)
For restaurants, the list is by no means exhaustive and there are tonnes with great reviews on tripadvisor etc – please do share your experiences with tips so I can update the recommendations (and try them of course 😉
Pecatu inda Resort – this is the 400htr land that is the view to the west. Its worth looking around on the internet there. This is where you have the championship golf course (Indonesian open held next year), 3 major hotels, Cafe Kalapa (Kudeta concept – Sunset drinks ten minutes away. Fantastic cliff top bar, with restaurants now open), conference centre, International hospital etc etc etc etc
For massages you can have them in house in the spa under the pool. Fantastic massage for Rph150,000 a time. Please ask the staff to call and order for you and settle the account when you leave. Be sure to tip the masseur 20,000 if you have a good massage.
The Safari Park is great for children and adults alike. Buy the ticket that gives you access to the waterpark and the amusement park. There is also of course waterbom in Kuta for a full on waterpark (very clean, well kept, good shade and not too busy and excellent slides – a must every trip with our kids).
Take a trip to Ubud high up on the volcano where it is said to be the culinary, cultural capital of Bali. A must try for great food is ‘Naughty Nuri’s’ – an institution in Bali. If you do go to Ubud, and you want to buy nick nacks or paintings, ask to stop at Sukawati market on the way – everything is a quarter of the price you would pay in e.g. Kuta, picking up a large painting for US$20
Dewa will know all of these places mentioned and more. Kudeta (Seminyak) is a great call for sunset with the family but leave around 5pm.
The ULTIMATE LOCAL BAR for Sunset drinks ‘not to be missed’ on your trip is the ‘Rock Bar’ at the Ayana resort in Jimbaran (smart casual). This place is not named ‘Rock Bar’ for the music, but because of being built out on the rocks. Black, Crome, immaculate place. Grab yourself a long cocktail, watch the sunset and chill with the sundowner vibe J – Voted in CNN’s top 10 bars in the world (a must) – go very early to avoid disappointment (like 4.30).
The fact of the matter is Bali is so diverse, and there is so much to do for everyone. Tip is, you don’t have to do it all, come back again and again.
Villa Rama Rama is a sanctuary of happiness, fun, relaxation where it’s the perfect blank canvas for your holiday. Whether beautiful big sky’s at night, happiness, laughter, great food, amazing massages or endless hours in the pool, villa rama rama is amazing value for money and a ‘very very special place’.
